INTERNATIONAL COSMIC DAY (6 Novembre 2019)
È in arrivo l’ottava edizione dell’International Cosmic Day, l’evento divulgativo più noto nel campo dei raggi cosmici, organizzato dal centro di ricerca Desy. Anche quest’anno gli studenti del Progetto Extreme Energy Events aderiranno all’iniziativa, recandosi nelle 10 sedi italiane individuate per questa attività, presso cui verranno accolti dai ricercatori del Progetto. La giornata si aprirà con un collegamento tra tutti i partecipanti EEE, per assistere a una lezione generale sui raggi cosmici, seguita da un video messaggio del professor Giovanni Losurdo, fisico INFN e Project Leader di Advanced VIRGO. Nella seconda parte della mattinata gli studenti analizzeranno i dati dei telescopi EEE per studiare le direzioni di arrivo dei muoni cosmici. I risultati ottenuti verranno presentati sia a livello nazionale che internazionale con le altre scuole partecipanti all’ICD. Così come avviene regolarmente nell'ambito della ricerca scientifica, gli studenti potranno condividere la loro esperienza in EEE con studenti in altre parti del mondo , scambiandosi informazioni sul proprio lavoro. INTERNATIONAL COSMIC DAY (November 6, 2019)
The 8th edition of the International Cosmic Day, the most popular outreach event in the field of cosmic rays organized by the Desy research center, is approaching. Also this year the students of the Extreme Energy Events Project will join the initiative, going to the 10 Italian sites selected for this activity, where they will be welcomed by the EEE researchers. The event will start with a video connection among all the EEE participants, to attend a general lesson on cosmic rays, followed by a video message from Professor Giovanni Losurdo, INFN physicist and Project Leader of Advanced VIRGO. In the second part of the morning students will analyze data from the EEE telescopes to study the arrival directions of cosmic muons. The obtained results will be presented to the other national and international schools participating to the ICD. As regularly happens in the scientific research field, students will have the opportunity to share their experience gained in the EEE Project with students from other countries, exchanging information on their work.
